I hope everyone had a Happy Thanksgiving! I didn’t even realize that this Thanksgiving dress was perfectly themed for the occasion until Matt complimented me by saying how pretty he thought I looked in my “pilgrim dress” haha. She was only $22 though and allowed room for me to eat all the Thanksgiving food! Which I did. No really… I kid you not, I gained six pounds over Thanksgiving. SIX! And since I’m only 5’2, this basically means I fit in none of my clothes now. So if anyone else stepped on the scale yesterday morning and almost fainted, you’re not alone – we can hate our lives together! I’m kiddingggg. Well, kind of. The only person to really blame here is
myself my sister. Remember when Cady Heron gave Regina George those Swedish Kalteen Bars and made her gain all that weight? That’s pretty much what happened to me over Thanksgiving Break (cue the velour jumpsuit). My sister made a sweet potato casserole for Thanksgiving that called for 4-ish sticks of butter (don’t worry, I will NOT be sharing that recipe! At least not in this post… haha). The real kicker is she’s 7 months pregnant and has gained 8 pounds thus far… I’m negative months pregnant and gained 6 pounds in 6 days. This math seems unfair, no? PS if I sound kind of dramatic right now, it’s probably because 1. That’s who I am and I can’t help it, and 2. I think PTSD (post traumatic stress disorder) is at play here… I’m still slightly majorly scarred from when I gained a whopping 75 pounds while I was pregnant with P. That’s basically 10 pounds per month. Presleigh weighed 7 lb. 10 oz when she was born… again, the math is not adding up?! haha. In my defense, I had just gotten married and practically starved myself for months to fit in a beautiful white dress, so when I got pregnant a few months later, I decided to treat myself for a solid 9 months to make up for it. I cant lie, it was pretty fun eating WHATEVER I wanted without a care in the world. Fortunately I somehow managed to not develop Gestational Diabetes and also managed lose it all in one year, but that’s probably a post for another day. In the meantime, I’ll be drinking lots of water, avoiding bread, and wearing all the over-sized things while I work to lose my Thanksgiving pounds that way I can gain it all back over Christmas and repeat this entire process again. Two things I refuse to give up whilest dieting though: cheese & wine. Life is all about balance amiright?! Also, sorry I didn’t talk about ANY sales over the last week… they honestly stress me out and make me feel so overwhelmed!! And clearly I was much too preoccupied eating all the casseroles. Below I’ve shared some of my go-to recipes for undoing this type of damage, and the type of clothes I’ll be wearing while doing so. PS all of the meals below are Presleigh & Matt approved so your family shouldn’t hate you for serving any of these dishes! My family also has pretty low standards of what to expect though so that always seems to help my case…
What To Eat:
- White Chicken Chili
- Spaghetti Squash with Meat Sauce
- Cheesy Quinoa Casserole with Corn and Chicken
- Trader Joe’s Tilapia over quinoa, w/ frozen carrots & asparagus. There’s no actual recipe here, we ate it last night though and it was SO delicious and easy. We seasoned the fish with onions, garlic and parsley.
